Every time I open a pack of bread, she shows up... Guess who? ..... I'm trying to save that matter until to the end of this post π... As we are getting closer to the summers, some chilled desserts are appreciated by our family and guests. This recipe is an effortless and a trouble-free one! You will definitely like it as it consists of feel-good flavors, there's nothing that makes us go meh π. You'll certainly appreciate the taste and simplicity of this pudding!
To Make This Recipe You'll Need :
Bread - 5 slices
Milk - 4 1/2 cups
Sugar - 100g to 120g (add as you see fit)
Vanilla custard powder - 2 Tablespoons
Chopped dry fruits - 2 1/2 Tablespoons
Pinch of saffron
Ghee - as required to toast the bread
Method :
1. Add 4 cups of milk to a wide pot to boil. Once it starts boiling, add saffron, sugar, and dry fruits.
2. Now, with the remaining 1/2 cup of milk (room temperature), mix the vanilla custard powder until well dissolved. Add this to the boiling milk and cook until it slightly thickens, for about 3 minutes on medium heat. Check for taste, add sugar if needed. Leave the custard milk to cool down, stirring it once in a while.
3. Now, cut each bread slice into quarters and toast them to golden brown using ghee.
4. When the custard milk has cooled down, arrange a layer of toasted bread. Top it with the cooled custard milk and repeat the process until done.
5. Finally, garnish with the nuts and sprinkle a few strands of saffron.
6. Cover with cling wrap or a lid and refrigerate it for an hour or a whole night.
7. Serve chilled.
